You are unable to open the POS company file. In this case you can’t open POS and get the File – Utilities.
Check the error log in the Data folder typically on this path C:\Users\Public\Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks Point of Sale 10.0\Data\POS. Open the POS.Log file and check for specific errors.
Here is a typical error when you can’t open the company file:
“qbpos.db consists of 2 disk fragments”
“Cannot open transaction log file, can’t use log file qbpos.log since is shorter than expected”
Launch POS again, select to open an alternative company file, browse to the Backup folder.
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks Point of Sale 10.0\Data\POS\Backup
Select a recent .qpb file.
You may be prompted to create a new company name. Type in a new name.
The backup file will be restored into the new company name.
You should be able to access the new company file now.
